What are the common faults of loader drive axle?

As a heavy machinery widely used in construction, mining, ports and other industries, the Carter loader’s speed control valve is a key component to achieve the speed change function. However, in actual use, various malfunctions may occur in the variable speed control valve, affecting the normal operation of the loader. This article will analyze common faults of the variable speed control valve of Carter loaders and propose corresponding treatment methods.

What are the common faults of loader drive axle?

1. Abnormal noise

Unqualified parts, improper adjustment of the main drive installation during assembly, and excessive wear during use will cause the loader to make abnormal noises during driving and operation. In general, abnormal noise increases with the increase of rotation speed. Generally, there are the following abnormal noises:
① The meshing clearance between the driving gear and the driven gear is improper and there is abnormal noise. The causes and phenomena are as follows: If the meshing gap between the active and passive gears is too large, the teeth will collide and produce a non-rhythmic “clucking” sound; if the meshing gap is too small, the teeth will squeeze each other, and the noise will be continuous “whistling”. ” sound, accompanied by the heat of the drive axle; if the meshing gap is uneven, the noise will be a rhythmic “choking” sound. In severe cases, the drive axle will vibrate. Treatment: Remove the main transmission and readjust the meshing clearance of the main and driven gears.
②The bearing clearance is improper and there is abnormal noise. The reasons and phenomena are: the bearing clearance is too small and a continuous sound of “Woo-Woo…” is made; when the bearing clearance is too large, disordered “Woo-Woo, Woo-Woo” sounds are emitted. Treatment method: Remove the main drive, add gaskets, and readjust the bearing clearance; if the bearing is damaged, replace it with new parts and readjust the bearing clearance.
③The differential makes abnormal noise. The causes and phenomena are as follows: when the planetary gear and the cross shaft are stuck, a “quacking” sound will be made, most of which will be made when rotating; the sound of poor planetary gear meshing is more complicated, and when the machine is running in a straight line, it will make a “huh” sound. …” sound, and the higher the machine speed, the louder the sound, and it will make a “clicking” sound during the transformation process. Treatment method: Remove the main transmission and replace the cross shaft or planetary gear.

2. Overheating

If you touch the axle housing with your hands, it will overheat. The main reasons are that the bearing clearance adjustment is too tight, the meshing clearance of the main and driven gears is too small, and the lubricating oil is insufficient. Treatment method: First check whether there is a lack of lubricating oil. If not, remove the main transmission and adjust the bearing clearance or the active and passive gear meshing clearance.

3. Oil leakage

The reason and phenomenon are: during operation or parking, the gear oil leaks from the joint between the main drive and the axle housing and the wheel reducer. Oil leakage at the connection between the main transmission and the axle housing is mainly caused by loose bolts or damaged asbestos paper pads. Oil leakage inside the wheel reducer is mainly caused by damage to the double-lip skeleton oil seal or O-ring. Treatment method: Replace the double-lip skeleton oil seal or asbestos paper pad.

When it is discovered that the drive axle has abnormal noise, heat, or oil leakage during operation, the machine should be stopped in time to find out the cause and eliminate it. Otherwise, the internal parts of the transaxle or wheel reducer will be seriously damaged. Once gear oil leaks onto the brakes, the brakes will fail.
