Second hand Caterpillar 14M Motor Graders are widely used in large-scale ground leveling operations such as roads, airports, and motor graders. The 14M motor grader is a revolution in operating efficiency, visibility, serviceability and overall productivity, setting new standards while continuing a tradition of quality you can count on. The reason why the motor grader has a wide range of auxiliary operations is that its moldboard can complete 6-degree movement in space. They can be done alone or in combination. During the roadbed construction, the grader can provide sufficient strength and stability for the roadbed. Its main methods in subgrade construction include leveling operations, slope brushing operations, and embankment filling.
1. Engine
The high-performance Cat C11 engine with ACERT Technology keeps you at a steady grading speed for maximum productivity. Exceptional torque and towing capacity provide plenty of power to handle sudden, short-duration load surges with ease. ACERT technology reduces combustion chamber temperatures and optimizes fuel combustion, which means more work can be done for the same fuel cost. Variable Horsepower (VHP) is standard and provides an additional 3.73 kW (5 hp) in 1 to 4 forward and 1 to 3 reverse. The result is a balance between traction, speed and power, which optimizes rimpull and reduces fuel consumption. VHP Plus is available as an option and provides an additional 3.73 kW (5 hp) in 5th through 8th gears for increased power at high speeds.
2. Powertrain
The 14M is designed to enable you to achieve higher productivity and longer life in the toughest applications.
Fully Electronic Clutch Pressure Control (ECPC) system for optimized inching modulation, smooth shifting and steering, reducing stress on the gears.
The Cat engine is mated directly to the powershift countershaft transmission for maximum power transfer to the ground.
Specially designed eight forward and six reverse gears provide ample operating range for maximum productivity no matter the earthmoving application.
Engine overspeed protection prevents the transmission from downshifting until a safe driving speed is reached.
3. Hydraulic system
The proven load sensing system and advanced electro-hydraulic system combine to give you superior implement control and responsive hydraulic performance, making the operator’s job easier. By continuously matching hydraulic flow/pressure to power demand, heat generation is reduced and power consumption is reduced.
Proportional Split, Priority, Pressure Compensating (PPPC) valves have different hydraulic oil flow rates on the head end and rod end to ensure consistent, reliable implement response.
Hydraulic flow is proportioned to ensure that all implements can be operated simultaneously without slowing down the engine or some implements.
4. Console
Good visibility is critical to your safety and efficiency. Large windows provide easy access to the moldboard and tires, as well as the rear area of the machine. A rearview camera gives you a better view of what’s behind the machine, and optional anti-icing windows help keep them clear in cold weather and snow.
